Washington is steeped in history — pre-Revolutionary architecture in the lush natural setting known as the Inner Banks. In 1776 it became the first town in the nation to be named Washington in honor of Gen. George Washington.
And when visiting Washington, we invite you to stay at the Pamlico House — a century-old Pamlico House with a history of its own.
Washington and the Pamlico House are a short twenty minute drive from Greenville and East Carolina University, and a convenient stop on the way to the Outer Banks.
Whether you’re visiting Washington for business or pleasure, we’ll cater our 5-star personalized service to your needs.

Located in Washington’s Historic District, the Pamlico House was built by St. Peter’s Episcopal Church as a rectory in 1906. The large Colonial Revival style frame house is just a short walk from downtown Washington, the river walk and the public boat docks, the Estuarium, and Main Street shops, including an ice cream parlor, restaurants and bars.
Events and Things To Do
As of July 1st, 2019, the Pamlico House Bed and Breakfast is changing to the Pamlico House Bed & Bath, emulating the very successful Airbnb™ format. The modifications we are making will in no way alter the quality of our guest rooms. The main and most significant difference will be, we will no longer be serving breakfast, but our greatly reduced rates will reflect this.
Over the last couple of years, there has been a growing trend in the B&B industry. Guests are not as interested in the amenities and pampering and have a greater focus on lower pricing and streamlined services. This change in the hospitality industry coupled with retirement becoming more prominent in my future have prompted this decision. We hope our past guests will continue to visit us and our future guests will be delighted and pleased with what we have to offer.
The new rates will be: $85 per night for the Bonner and Dudley rooms, $95 per night for the Beaufort, Washington and NOLA rooms and $125 for the Kuralt. These rates are for single or double occupancy, $15 for additional adults and $8.50 for children 5-12 years old.
For guests who have confirmed reservations made prior to July 2019 I will be happy to make the necessary adjustments to the rate. If you choose to change your plans, I understand and hope you will consider staying with us in the future.
We promise the Pamlico House will continue to be beautifully appointed, impeccably clean and offer:
• Free wireless internet
